THE RETURN OF MANCHESTER ECLIPSE FC

THE RETURN OF MANCHESTER ECLIPSE FC

Kaine Duncan

A NEW CHAPTER BEGINS

The Silk Men are back. A new league, a new structure, new ambitions and a long-term vision — Manchester Eclipse Football Club is entering an exciting new era.

Manchester Eclipse Football Club is proud to introduce the first in a series of articles documenting the club's return, its development behind the scenes and its ambitions for the future.

This is more than a return to Sunday league football. It is the beginning of a project built around creating a sustainable, ambitious and professionally run football club, with clear plans for growth both on and off the pitch.

With competitive football finally here, the club is ready to begin writing its next chapter.

A NEW BEGINNING FOR THE SILK MEN

Every football club has a story, and Manchester Eclipse FC is determined to make its next chapter count.

In recent weeks, the focus has been on laying the foundations for the club's return. From player recruitment and training preparations to administration, equipment, finances and the appointment of club officials, significant work has taken place away from the spotlight.

The objective is simple: build a club with a clear identity, a strong organisational structure and ambitions that extend beyond a single season.

Known as The Silk Men, the club carries an identity connected to Manchester's industrial heritage and the area's history. That identity will be central to the club's journey as it establishes itself in grassroots football.

The work is only beginning, but the direction is clear.

BUILDING THE CLUB FROM THE GROUND UP

Behind every successful football club is a team of people working to make it happen.

Manchester Eclipse FC has established its initial leadership structure to ensure the club has clear responsibilities and accountability as it develops.

The current club leadership team is:

Chairman: Kaine Duncan
First Team Manager: Kaine Duncan
Club Secretary: Makenzie Andrews
Club Treasurer: Dean Maclean

The club will continue to develop its wider football and operational staff as its requirements grow, with additional coaching and support positions forming part of its longer-term plans.

The aim is to create an environment where football operations, finances, administration and player development are taken seriously from the outset.

This structure is an important part of the club's philosophy: build strong foundations first, then grow sustainably.

COMPETITIVE FOOTBALL IS BACK

The biggest milestone so far is Manchester Eclipse FC's entry into the Hyde, Oldham & District Sunday Football League for the 2026/27 season.

Competing in Division Two, the club is preparing to take its first steps in league football as it begins a new journey on the pitch.

The opening fixture represents more than three points. It is the culmination of weeks of planning, recruitment, preparation and commitment from everyone involved in bringing the club back.

The squad has been taking shape, with players being recruited across all positions and preparations focused on establishing a competitive team capable of developing together throughout the season.

The immediate objective is to build consistency, establish a recognisable style of play and give the club a platform on which to grow.

There will inevitably be challenges along the way. New teams need time to develop chemistry, understand their tactical responsibilities and establish standards. However, the ambition is to approach every fixture with purpose and represent the badge with pride.

The first chapter of the competitive journey begins this Sunday, 18 October 2026.

A CLEAR VISION FOR THE FUTURE

While the immediate focus is on the Sunday league campaign, Manchester Eclipse FC is already looking further ahead.

The club's long-term plan is to establish a broader footballing structure, providing opportunities for growth while ensuring that each stage of development is supported by the right foundations.

One of the key ambitions is to expand into Saturday football for the 2027/28 season.

The intention is to develop a Saturday side as the next step in the club's progression, subject to the necessary league arrangements and acceptance. This would allow Manchester Eclipse FC to broaden its competitive presence and create additional opportunities for players to become part of the project.

The club is also looking at the development of a reserve team within its Sunday football structure. This would help strengthen squad depth, support player development and create a clearer pathway for players to progress within the club.

These plans will take time, investment and careful organisation. They are ambitions to work towards rather than overnight promises, and the club is committed to developing at a pace that remains sustainable.

The wider vision is to build a club with multiple teams, a strong identity and a structure capable of supporting long-term growth.

LOOKING TOWARDS 2027/28

Another important ambition is the club's proposed entry into the Lancashire & Cheshire Amateur Football League for the 2027/28 season.

This is a planned next step in the club's development, subject to the application process and acceptance by the league.

As part of that ambition, the club intends to hold further trials in January 2027, providing players with an opportunity to showcase their ability and potentially become part of the next phase of the project.

Recruitment remains an important priority. The club is interested in hearing from players across all positions who want to contribute to a developing football club and be part of its future.

Anyone interested in joining Manchester Eclipse FC can contact the club through its social media channels or by emailing manchestereclipsefc@outlook.com.

The message is straightforward: the club is building for the long term, and there is room for the right people to grow with it.

A MAJOR STEP OFF THE PITCH: EV2 TEAMWEAR PARTNERSHIP

Manchester Eclipse FC has also taken an important step in developing its commercial and operational foundations.

On 12 October 2026, the club signed a three-year agreement with EV2, confirming the company as the club's official teamwear partner.

The partnership represents an important milestone as Manchester Eclipse FC continues to establish its identity and develop its club infrastructure.

The agreement will support the club's teamwear arrangements and provide a dedicated route for supporters and players to access club merchandise.

The club shop is expected to become available through the EV2 website in the coming days, giving the Manchester Eclipse FC community another way to show its support for The Silk Men.

The partnership is part of the club's wider commitment to building a recognisable brand and putting the right arrangements in place as it grows.

Further details about the club shop will be announced through the club's official channels.

CREATING A CLUB THAT PEOPLE CAN BELIEVE IN

Building a football club requires more than assembling a squad.

It takes commitment from players, volunteers, officials, sponsors and supporters. It also requires financial responsibility, careful planning and the willingness to put in the work when nobody is watching.

Manchester Eclipse FC has already been working to establish the essentials required to compete, including registration, training arrangements and equipment.

The club's approach is to build steadily, reinvest where possible and make decisions that support its long-term future rather than chasing growth for the sake of it.

There is still plenty to do. The squad will continue to develop, the staff structure will evolve and future teams will require further investment and planning.

But the foundations are being laid, and every milestone brings the club closer to its wider ambitions.

THIS SUNDAY: THE JOURNEY BECOMES REAL

All the planning now leads to the pitch.

On Sunday, 18 October, Manchester Eclipse FC begins its competitive campaign in the Hyde, Oldham & District Sunday Football League.

For the players, it is an opportunity to put the work from training into practice. For the management team, it is the first real test of the preparations and footballing ideas being developed. For the club, it is the moment when the project moves from preparation into competition.

The opening fixture will be an important occasion, but the club understands that its journey will not be defined by one result.

The focus is on building a team that competes, learns and improves together, while representing Manchester Eclipse FC with commitment and pride.

Supporters can follow the club's official channels for fixture updates, team news, matchday coverage and developments throughout the season.

THIS IS ONLY THE BEGINNING

This article marks the first in a series of features covering the return and development of Manchester Eclipse FC.

Future articles will provide further insight into the squad, the people behind the club, matchday experiences, recruitment, the development of the club's wider structure and the progress towards its long-term ambitions.

There is a great deal of work ahead, but there is also a clear vision of what Manchester Eclipse FC wants to become.

The immediate challenge is to establish ourselves in competitive football. The next challenge is to grow. And the long-term ambition is to build a club that can continue progressing season after season.

To everyone who has contributed time, effort, resources or support so far, the club extends its sincere thanks.

The journey is underway. The foundations are being laid. And the next chapter belongs to The Silk Men.

Manchester Eclipse FC. One club. One vision. One journey.
